College summer bucket list!

Finals are finally over and now you have a few months (or weeks if in summer school) to enjoy your time off. Live it up! You're now in college and have the freedom to do all of the cool things in life so why waste it with Netflix?

What you should be doing during the summer {in college}:

1. Go to a concert.
Go to any type of concert, whether it's Bayou Country Superfest in Baton Rouge, LA or a rock concert in Colorado, JUST GO! Sing your lungs out and have fun!

2. Go to the beach.
Who doesn't like the beach? The beach is a great way to relax and get a tan! Call up all of your friends, go get a cheap hotel room, and don't forget the funnel (beer bong)! Do like Luke Bryan says, "sit pretty in suntan city".

Tip: Try not to buy your alcohol close to the beach because it is always more expensive!

3. Go to the river w/ friends.
If you can't afford the beach right now, check out your closest river. Maybe one of your friends have a camp, GO TO IT!

4. Play slipping slide flip cup.
All you need is a tarp, solo cups, and beer for this fun little adventure. Make sure you pick team members who can flip a cup and don't cringe under pressure.

5. Have a kiddie pool party (no, you're not too old for that).
Everyone loves a little kiddie pool party, even college students. So go to Walmart, buy a kiddie pool, and call up you friends for a good time!

6. Go hiking/camping with friends.
Get a group of friends, a tent, and some marshmallows. Sit around the fire and tell ghost stories (I promise they will get a little scarier a few beers in).

7. Go on a road trip.
Get the heck outta town! You have to be here all semester long with barely any time for adventure. Call up your girlfriends and just drive until you find a good place to stop! Maybe check out your friends hometown.

8. Go tiki tubbing.
Tiki tubing is always a good choice. Not too expensive either. Float down the river and enjoy it!

9. Have a party in your hometown.
Stuck in your hometown for summer? Call up your old friends and throw a party like you did in high school. Im sure the small town police officers will still try and bust the party thinking its a bunch of high schoolers, but thats what makes it fun (esp. if you're 21)!

10. Play Volleybeer.
I mean who wouldn't want to play this game? It looks awesome! So huddle up some trash cans and a volley ball and get to shooting!

Box Dye

So, this post is for anyone who is one (or all) of the following:
1. A broke college student
2. Anyone who doesn't want to spend $65-$115 to get their hair done
3. All of the above.

I stumbled across a youtube video of Jessie James Decker dying her hair w/ BOX DYE!

Yes, I said box dye. Normally coloring your hair with $11 box dye from Walmart would end tragic, but this stuff is amazing.
So if you didn't already love Jessie James Decker heres another reason why you should!

It is called Revlon (Frost & Glow).
It's $11.99 and you can find it basically anywhere (Walmart, Walgreens, etc)
& Yes, I have used it and it really works!

Here's the link to watch her tutorial!

Happy Mother's Day!

5 reasons why you should thank your mother:

1.    She's the strongest woman you have ever met.

She has been through many situations and experiences throughout her lifetime, but she has never once chose to be the victim in any situation. When things don't go her way she stops, prays about it, and moves on. She never trash talks anyone to you, thinks she's better than anyone, or tries to act like someone's she's not. You strive to be that positive and have her to thank for making you the strong women you are today.

2.    She will do anything to help you succeed in life.

She is so proud of every accomplishment you achieve and odds are she doesn't get the "thank you" she deserves. She was the one who pushed you past what you thought you could do, never allowed you to settle for less than you deserved, and always pushed you to be the better person in any given situation. Without her you would not be the woman you are today. So thank her for that.

3.   She always listens to you vent about any given topic.

She is the one who you can go to and tell anything to without judgment and ridicule. So you call her daily and vent about your professor or your boyfriend because you know she will just sit there and listen (& occasionally tell you that you are over reacting), but she deserves a thank you for this because she puts down whatever she is doing to listen to you.

4.    She has always told you how beautiful you were and truly meant it.

Your mom has always reassured you every time you felt less than worthy. Your mom sees your true beauty, not just your appearance, but also every attribute that makes you, YOU. She brags about you any chance she gets, whether it is posting one of the selfies you sent her on Facebook or telling her coworkers how proud she is of you. You will never find anyone else who actually sees your true beauty. So thank her for that and makes sure she knows how beautiful you think she is as well.

5.    She taught you about the “bigger picture” in life.

Every time you’d come home upset because of something that happened at school she reassured you that there is more to life than what people think of you. When you went through your “I hate high school and this town phase” she reassured you that there is more to life than your little high school, but while you are there enjoy it because you will miss it later on.

Mom's are truly a blessing and have one of the hardest jobs out there (raising us). Don't forget to appreciate them and let them know how loved they really are.

Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there!

"I'll be there for youuu..."

We have already talked about how to choose friends responsibly and the importance of friendship, but we have not talked about what you should contribute to your friendships.

I have compiled my 4 best tips to being the “best friend ever”.

1. Start listening more and interrupting less.
In today's society, it is all about "me me me", but a friendship is a two way street. By this I mean, instead of always over loading your friend with all of your problems try sitting back and listening to theirs without switching the subject back to your life. Odds are your friend is going through just as many hard times as you are so be their shoulder to lean on and listen to their problems just like they listen to yours.

2. Don't forget to compliment them
Being positive towards someone not only gives him or her happiness, but it also brings you happiness too. If your friend did her makeup really well today, tell her! Compliments can make even the most unhappy people feel beautiful. One thing you can try to accomplish is complimenting three people a day. I promise it will make your life a whole lot brighter.

3. Do "the little things"
The little things are what friends are for. Have you ever heard the song “You find out who your friends are”? If not, it is a song about going through hard times in life and finding out who your real friends are (the ones that are not just in it for the happy times). So, don’t just be in a friendship for the fun/happy times, be in it for the long haul and make sure your friend knows that. So I challenge you to “do the little things” for your friends this week. If your friend is sick and has been in bed all day, bring her some soup to cheer her up (& help with the sickness). Your friends will always remember the little things you do for them that let them know you care.

4. Do not talk about them negatively to other people (well, except to your mom)
Girls have a bad habit of talking about one particular friend to their other friends. Long story short, don't do this. It will make you look dishonest and your other friends will start questioning your loyalty. One thing I have learned to do is call my mom when I need to vent about a friend because I know my mom will not judge me and will keep my rudeness a secret. Once you stop being so negative in conversations to friends you will see how much it will brighten your life.

So lets review,
Listen to your friend.
Compliments can move mountains.
Little things are the key to happiness.
If you don’t have anything nice to say than don’t say anything at all.

Hope this helps,

Comment what you have done this week to benefit your friendships!

The inevitably awkward situations you encounter at the library.

6 reasons why studying in the library scares the crap out of me:

You never know just how awkward you are until you’re trying to maintain your cool in a crowded university library despite your sleep deprivation…

1.    From the time you walk in the doors of the library until you find a table to sit at every single person in the room is staring at you.
Well, I don’t know about you all, but when people start staring at me I quickly revert back to a toddler stage. I suddenly forget how to walk (which makes me look like a baby deer who’s just learning to walk), I end up running into something (which causes even more noise leading to even more frustrated eyes looking me), and I tend to forget to breathe in hopes to quietly reside at my table (which we all know the cons of not breathing).  Long story short, entering into the library isn’t just embarrassing it’s bad for your health.

2.    When you sit down and start unpacking your books everyone continues to stare at you until you are completely finished unpacking.
Really people? Did you not unpack anything when you first got to the library? Stop staring, it will not take me long to get situated unless you keep staring at me because I will end up forgetting what subject I’m even here to study for which will cause even more racket from my book sack in hopes to find just the right binder I need.

3.    I feel like the entire time I’m studying everyone behind me knows exactly what I’m doing and judge me every time my browser clicks on Facebook, Pinterest, etc.
Just because I have been here for 30 minutes and surfed every single website except Moodle doesn’t mean you have the right to judge me. My procrastination will eventually cease and I will begin my study session. So, don’t worry long pony tail girl behind me, I will not be defeated by finals.

4.    Well, now you have been sitting on your right foot for an hour and a half and it falls asleep.
If anyone has any tips on waking your foot up without banging it a million times on the ground please comment below. The looks I get while I’m banging my foot against the ground, as quietly as possible, are disturbing. So, before my next trip to the library my goal is to keep as much blood flowing to my feet as possible in hopes to be less disturbing to my fellow library-goers.

5.    Oh, and don’t even thinking about breathing too hard because that will interrupt another student’s concentration.
“OMG, could she not breathe so loud. Literally, it is the most annoying thing everrrrrr”. Yes, I may be exaggerating a tad, but EVERYONE HAS TO BREATHE! Maybe some of you complaining about my breathing should practice not doing it and see how well you do on finals…

6.     You are finally done studying, or your brain is fried, which ever comes first. This means you must pack up all of your belongings and exit the library.
And the uncomfortable stares start again. All you can think about is thank gosh I am out of that awkward, horrifying place, but it’s finals week so you will be back after your 3 hour nap. Damn you, library.

Though some of my points may be a bit exaggerated, I think you get the point of how much I despise the library.

Well, now that I’m done procrastinating I’m going to get back to studying… in the library. Wish me luck on my attempt to be as “cool” as possible and in covering up all of my awkwardness.
